Homeware Shopping List

Hey! I've recently been perusing the homeware isles of my local Wilkos and a couple of clothes shops for our up and coming move out of the Big Smoke to Essex and as I've come across items, I've been cheekily snapping them on my phone so I could Instagram them and of course be able to put together a photo shopping list! I absolutely love buying stuff for the home and it's been so hard to hold back and having to wait until we are in, however there are one or two things on this list I'll be buying before the big day and I thought I'd share them here on my blog, because why not ! :)

These cute copper mason jar mugs are from New Look and cost £6.99 each. They also do silver!

I simply adore this rustic key and letter holder! I'm a sucker for anything rustic looking and this is only £10.00 from Wilkos.

Name me somebody who isn't currently obsessed with owls. I'm actually buying this snowglobe to go in my daughter's new bedroom. This is also from Wilko and is £7.00.

Not exactly homeware but I liked the rose gold theme and it'd look nice on my dresser whilst keeping everything in one place! This is £15 .00 from Superdrug.

And now onto the Christmas bits!! Wilko has some stunning trinkets this year! I particularly love this lantern with the wooden hearts and at £6.00 it's a steal!

And last but not least, Christmas candles whoop! These Yankee Simply Home medium jars are only £9.00 and can be found at Wilko and also B&Q. The Christmas Treats on the left is pretty much the same candle as Christmas Cookie.

What's your favourite place for homeware?

Gelish Glitter Fade Nails

Hello! It's been a long time since I published any nail blog posts! I feel like I've had so much going on in the last 2 years that my blog has completely been neglected and although I always have something to blog about, I just have never had the time or energy.

Anyway, I want to change this and I'm going back to basics by publishing a nail post for you all! I have to say even my nails have been neglected lately and in my previous job I was not allowed to wear polish - boo! :( But for now I'm free to do what the heck I want with them and this week I have really embraced Autumn by painting my nails a lovely chocolate and gold theme.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I'm a complete glitter holic! I love the stuff! I was gutted last Christmas that I couldn't glitterize my nails with festive colours due to work. Who wants bare nails at Christmas? No I! Noooo! But to be fair, I'll usually opt for a glitter fade no matter which month it is! The above photo I am wearing Gelish Sweet Chocolate and a fine gold glitter which Is non-iridescent.

This photo has to be my all time favourite. I did my friends nails for her 30th and she opted for the Gelish shade in Call me Jill Frost! Again with the same Gold Glitter.

And finally this photo was taken on a weekend away with my other half. It was in June so I opted for a really bright coral. This one is Gelish Rockin the Reef. Again I used gold lol! I do love my gold glitter for ombres,  it just compliments my skin tone but I'm definitely going to get my other glitters out for more ombré designs.

I prefer to use Gelish gel polish as have used this on clients and it lasts me up to 3 weeks, however you can do glitter fade on regular polish :)

Do you love glitter as much as I do or do you prefer the more classic looking designs ? :)

Attention all Candle and Wax Melt Addicts!

Hey lovely peeps!

As it's now officially Autumn, it felt it only right that I should do a review on my current favourite home scents by a little company called Tarts with a Heart. They make gorgeous smelling soy wax tarts which you pop into an oil burner or tart warmer.

Now, I'm no candle snob. Yes I love my Yankees and Bath & Body Works, but I also like to explore other brands and there are so many smaller businesses out there that make amazing candles and wax tarts. There aren't many though in the uk, or if there are i haven't found them yet. So when Tarts With a Heart popped up on my Instagram, I had to take a look. Obviously :)

The first thing that got my attention was the price. £1.00 for a tart. Whaa..! I mean they can't be that long lasting right? Wrong! These little soy wax tarts really pack a punch. I have been known to reuse one tart up to 5 times and the scent throw was just as strong. I have a very large living space with high ceilings and the whole room is easily filled with aroma. Massive thumbs up from me!

They do a huge range of scents, it's very hard to choose what you want but at £1.00 a tart you aren't gona break the bank by buying 2 or 3. My current faves have to be Chocolate Orange and Toffee Apple Crumble. They even do tart warmers and tart bundles where you get a burner and 3 tarts included. Perfect for Christmas gifts!

Tarts with a Heart have just launched their Christmas wax tarts and have a cute wax tart advent calendar on sale too.

If you are a candle-holic like me, definitely go and check them out! I think they are a great alternative to the more expensive brands out there and much more affordable :)

You can find their website HERE

Happy Wax Melting :)

Luxemme Two Piece Review

Oh hey! Yes I know, I know, it's been a while... I always say that every time I manage to actually write a blog post and I sound like a broken record :)

However recently  I was lucky enough to have received an item of clothing from Luxemme UK and I promised I would write up a review! I very rarely write fashion posts and even in the past have only ever stuck to beauty or cosmetics so it was refreshing to do something different !

After having a baby 2 years ago, I have only recently started to take much more of an interest in fashion. I'm the sort of girl who buys something and it stays in my wardrobe for years upon years! However this year something changed and I decided after being asked if I was expecting again (which I wasn't - mortified!) that I needed to make some changes to my diet and do something about that mummy tummy that just won't go away. This has meant buying new pieces that are both flattering and fashionable and I can honestly say that the Arleta Crepe 2 piece  I received, has fulfilled just that!

But before I go into more detail about the outfit, I'll give you a little low down on the company that is Luxemme UK. They are in basic terms a brand new, fresh and forward-thinking fashion brand, combining Parisienne Chic with Manchester cool. They offer affordable fashion whilst offering both quality and being band on trend. I had never heard of them before, and not being a huge fashionista I probably would have just bypassed them for my beloved Boohoo....however...i'm so glad i didn't and I can honestly say i'll be back for more so thank you Luxemme - you da bomb!! ;)

What I love about this 2 piece the most,  is the fact the shorts are elasticated which means there is some 'give' in them. They aren't too tight and the shorts  have a lovely length to them. I hate anything where the shorts are too short and tight. For me as a 32 going on 33 year old mum, I like a bit of coverage! These do that without appearing frumpy! The gorgeous lace detail around the hem also gives the shorts an illusion of being longer, concealing any lumpy bumpy bits which unfortunately I do have, yes. I bought the outfit in a 12 and for me they fit perfectly. I could maybe have even gone to a 10 because of the elasticated waist. I love that I can wear these again on their own with a different top too!

The matching top has the same lace detail along the bottom hem line. I love that once again it gives that coverage around the dreaded midriff area, whilst at the same time just putting enough out there on show :) It looks gorgeous, and from afar it almost looks like a playsuit. The material is fairly thick, it's well made and the stitching has been done to a high standard. The only thing I would say to watch out for is to definitely read the care label. It does have a tendency to crease if folded for a while and if you are going to iron it, make sure it's on the lowest heat possible. I haven't yet put the clothing through the wash but so far I'm pretty happy with the outfit, considering normally I wouldn't have been brave enough in the past to wear it!

You can buy the Arleta Crepe Two Piece outfit HERE for £39.00! Go and have a little look!

Thanks for reading!

MAC 2014 Heirloom Mix Holiday Collection

Well hello there!

It's been quite a while since I took up my laptop and wrote a word or two! But alas I am back with another review on the new Mac 2014 Holiday Collection woo hoooo!

Now, for the last few years I have missed out on buying the holiday collection. As usual I leave it way too late and everything sells out. Not this year!

I actually went online after seeing swatches on Instagram and thought I'd try my luck! And there it was... and everything went black.. You know the feeling yeah?  I had to buy it. Like Pronto. I couldn't afford everything but below are the goodies that kind of just appeared in my basket... Oops!!

One thing that drew me to this collection was the gorgeous black sparkly packaging and casing. Very festive!

I usually will always opt for the miniature pigment sets as they are such good value and I never get through a whole fullsize pot of pigment, plus they come with a glitter which for me is a bonus. This set came in at £26.00. The case is so versatile not to mention cute,  that I am re-using it to store other bits of makeup.

Dry Swatches

Wet Swatches

I also purchased one of the lipsticks in Tribalist which I think is Limited Edition. It's a Cremesheen finish and still in stock at time of editing and is the perfect colour for Fall or if you are after a vampy lip. I use Nightmoth liner with it to to give it a deeper colour payoff. Tribalist came in at the usual price of £17.00.

I added a couple more things to my basket such as one of the Mineralise blushes as I've had to throw a couple out recently. They do two In the collection - Sweet Sentiment and Modest Blush and both retail at £23.00 each. Sweet Sentiment is also still in stock at time of publishing :)

I picked up the Gold glitter from the Heirloom Mix collection as it's soooo pretty and I didn't already own a gold glitter!  They also do a gorgeous amethyst glitter and both retail at £18.50. I do think this is a little pricy for just a pot of glitter however it will last me forever and ever and .. It's Christmas and I wanted to treat myself ;) So yeah!

Have you managed to buy anything from this year's holiday collection? What was it and what were your favourite purchases?

There are still some items in stock on the website so get clicking on the link below and  treat yourselves! :)

Barry M Nail Art Pens Review

Hello Bloggers!

Feels like ages since I wrote a post! Time just runs away these days and at the moment I'm busy doing my Gel Nails Home Study, looking for a new job for when my maternity leave ends as well as being a mum to my 5 month old. Phew it's a busy life eh!

So, let's get on with today's post! This evening I will be reviewing the Barry M Nail Art Pens! This is a very honest review as I was not 100% satisfied with these items unfortunately. Perhaps I just got unlucky and picked up a couple of dud pens, who knows?

Anyways, I have been on the lookout for a while now for nail art pens as I feel that sometimes with brushes, it's easy to overload them with paint and therefore harder to create fine details such as letters and outlining shapes. I was very excited to pick up these pens on a 3 for 2 offer at Superdrug. I had seen some good reviews on them and photos on Instagram and instantly wanted to try them out. I have just qualified in Nail Art and wanted to try out lots of new designs.

I bought the pens in black, white and pink. I gave the black pen a good shake as instructed and pumped the nib to bring down the ink. I then proceeded to outline a few designs and do a few letters. I was impressed! So far so good! Good colour payoff and not runny.

And then it went downhill lol! The white pen I activated same as the black and all I got was a little bit of white and then a watery liquid much like tip x when it hasn't been shaken enough. Yuk! I thought maybe I had not shaken it enough so tried 3 or 4 more times. Same thing happened. The last time I shook it a load of white paint splattered out everywhere. Hmmm :-/ So I tried the pink one out. It wasn't as watery as the white but the colour pay off was so little and hardly showed up against the base colours.

I was not impressed with the white and pink, particularly as the black is so good. I would use the white for touching up but I think I'll stick to my brushes and nail art paint for filling in and use the pens as guide lines on where to paint.

In these designs I used the black pen to outline the 'think bubble' and the 'pow' For the Leopard Print and Domino designs, I used a dotting tool.

If I were to purchase them again, I will probably just stick to the black. It was very good for doing the finer detailing and this is very important for me :) It just makes life so much easier!

Do you use nail art pens? Which ones do you like to use?

Love Holly

Status Update of the Day!

Afternoon bloggers!

How you all doing today?? Good I hope and hopefully not feeling the Monday blues too much now it's halfway through the day!

I thought I'd share a little something a friend posted on her Facebook today. Its a lovely little statement and it's so true! I always try to comment on at least three or four blog posts each time I'm reading through. It's so easy to just press hit 'like' and 'share' but to add a little comment shows that you have gone the extra mile in letting that person know you have read their content and it really boosts their motivation.

Everyone loves a comment on their blog, page or website. I know as soon as I see that email come in notifying me of a new comment, I get all excited even after blogging for over a year. It gives you such a nice feeling that somebody out there enjoyed what they read and got something out of it. Even negative comments work in your favour as comments drive more traffic to that particular content and in a way is publicity.

Anyway I thought I'd leave you with that little 'thought of the day' :) Feel free to share out on all your Facebook or blog pages!

Love Holly xx
