Soap and Glory Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen Review

Evening again hehe! So how is everyone enjoying this lovely wet rainy disgusting weather we are having in the UK. Definitely not me, that's for sure! I so wish i could get out there and enjoy the sun which we should be having seeing as it's nearly May, but it's not to be :(

So what better way to distract myself from the grey outside than by giving into my temptations and buying more, yes more makeup. This particular product i have had my eye on for a while and it's the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen. If you are anything like me, trying to perfect your eyeliner and creating those feline eyes, this may be the product for you. When i worked on the beauty counters as a Makeup Expert, i used to dread when a customer would ask me to apply liquid eyeliner esp when they wanted the flicks. My heart would start pounding and then my hands would shake....not a good thing when you need your hand to be completely still!! Unfortunately my employers didn't give us much training in the art of liquid eyeliner so the only way was to practice and practice!

Now, the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner is great for those who are starting out with eyeliner as it's just like using a feltip pen. You don't need to worry about getting too much product on a brush and then overloading your eyelids with black paint. This lovely little pen gives so much control which means you can create as thin a line as you like or as thick! The colour is a true black as well which means you get a nice bold line and this is all because of their unique INKJET colour release and Gloss-Fix finish.

What i did find when i first tried it out was it didnt go on a smooth as i was expecting and i had to give it a few goes before i was happy with it. I used it again today and straight away i got the colour and finish i was looking for, so i think it's just a case of letting the ink run into the nib first before using it properley.

The pen is RRP £6.00 and can be bought in Boots or online at

I have posted some photos below for you to see. The eyeshadows are by MAC and i also used another Soap and Glory product, their Smolder Kohl Eyeliner Pencil which i absolutely adore and can't live without, along with their Kick Ass concealer!

So, what do you guys like to use for your eyeliner and what tips and tricks do you recommend? :)

Luv Holly xx

Soap & Glory Packaging and another Revlon Lip Butter that i bought with it - this one i am wearing in the photo, it's Strawberry Shortcake

Close up of the eyeliner. Eyeshadows are Mac in Carbon and White Frost and for waterline i used Soap & Glory Smolder Kohl :)
The completed look!

Video Review of the April Edition Glossy Box!

Evening ladies!

As you can imagine i was very excited to receive my first ever Glossy Box yesterday in the post! I didn't even know there was such a thing - a ten pound box with 5 travel/sample size products in including 1-2 full sizes .... not possible! But sure enough, when i looked online on their website and watched other reviews, there it was for all to see, 5 products a month for a tenner! Couldn't say fairer than that, so off i went to get my bank details and signed up straight away. I have used some of the products and i have to say overall i'm pretty pleased, so please take a look at my video review and tell me what you think?

Do any of you sub to Glossybox and if so which is your favourite box so far?

You can sub to Glossybox by visiting:

MAC - Crushed Metallic Pigment in Aloha

Evening everyone! Firstly some of my regular readers will notice that I've given my page a bit of a makeover. Reason being is i felt it looked a little cluttered and too 'busy' and over the past few weeks I've learnt that a good blog needs to be readable to everyone and to the point, so let me know what you think as critique is always great!

Now onto more important matters such as my new post, yay! Yesterday i received in the post a parcel from a friend of mine who works for MAC ( i know lucky her right!) She is such a darling, basically i did her a favour of being her makeup model for some photography and it all went a bit pear shaped. Unfortunately we had landed ourselves with a bit of a dodgy photographer who spent most of the time on Photoshop editing rather than taking photos which is what my friend had paid him to do. And then we later found out that he refused to send any of the originals and just one shot of me.... after all the hard work my friend had spent on my face too. She is such a talented artist, i felt so bad :( Anyways, as a thankyou she sent me the below products from Mac's new crushed metallics pigment collection and a limited edition Sheen Supreme Lip Glass in Fuji Pink (sadly this gloss is no longer on the site, so haven't posted any pictures) As you can imagine i was thrilled and straight away went to have a play!

Most of you will know that Mac Pigments are multi use, you can use them on the face, body and eyes depending on the pigment. What i love about pigments is they can be as natural as you want or really bold. My favourite thing is to mix the pigment with a little toner and make it into a paint. This is called 'foiling', which means exactly that. By foiling you get that metallic look and the pigment is sooo vibrant, i just love it! Great for clubbing because it makes your eyes stand out from all the rest! With these particular pigments that i received, they are already metallic based so i've yet to see how they come out when used wet!

What is a little different about these is the way they are packaged. Usually you would just receive one pot full of pigment but with this little collection, you get 4 colours contained in a stackable tower, meaning you can screw the pots ontop of each other.

There are 2 other colour collections, one is called Butterfly Party which contains a combination of cool colours such as blue and green and the other is called Strawberry Patch which is a combination of pinks and reds!

They are priced at £25.50 each (12 grams) which I think for 4 pigments , is pretty good and currently available from the Mac Website under the 'multi-use' section and also in stores. You can visit Mac by clicking on the Mac link at the top of my page.

Here is a bit of blurb from their website:

'Textile designer Vera Neumann's brilliant colour palette is translated into a limited edition set of four

stackable jars of Crushed Metallic Pigment. Highlights eyes or skin with a striking colour wave of gold

reflective metallic sparkle'

I took some pictures below of swatches and also of what it looks like on my eyes. I used the pigments dry so they come across as very natural looking. I think these colours would stand out well on a fairer skin, but by wetting the pigment will come across as more vibrant. I am wearing the collection in my introduction video as well which you can visit by going to:

Hope this review was helpful and please let me know if you have any questions!

PS: I will be announcing my mini 50 follower giveaway next week, so stay tuned!

My new Vlog channel & a thankyou to my followers :)

Hi my lovelies! For a while now i've been thinking of launching a new youtube channel as a partner to my blog. I wasnt 100% sure whether to do it or not as it does take a lot of time and commitment but i thought why the hell not! My other channel has kinda fallen by the wayside and to be honest i don't want a channel anymore where all i do is just purely makeup tutorials, i want a channel that's personal to me and a place where i can chat to you all about this and that! So this channel will basically be for you my followers, where i will be doing reviews on products, hauls and little life updates :)

So the below really is just a lil intro to me and also a thankyou to all of you who have taken time to read my posts and follow me, it means so much :)

Love Holly xxxx

Barry M Instant Nail Effects

Right, what girly girl out there doesn't like a bit of colour on their nails? I know i do and especially now my gel nails have grown out i need to wear lots of polish to cover it up! I'm sure there's plenty of blogging reviews out there on this polish as it's been out a while so this is just a short post! It's the Barry M Instant Nail Effects in black which is basically a shatter effect polish! I love the way you can add this to any colour to jazz it up and it instantly goes to work by creating that shattered glass look. What i also love is how it dries so quickly!

I picked this up from Superdrug for £2.99 and for that you get 10ml of polish. Its a great look, i always get compliments when i wear this, people assume i made the pattern myself.. but little do they know i cheated haha!

If you don't have this, go out and try it when you are next in Superdrugs/boots, it's a great little buy!

Tag!! Get to know meeeee ! ;)

Hey everyone!!  How are you all enjoying the weekend so far?

So a few days ago i got tagged on a 'get to know me' post by my fabulous blogging friend  Amanda at Geekyfashionista. If you love your fashion then you need to check out her blog, there's some great fashion tips/posts that she is dying to share with you all :)

I promised i would participate in the tag, just needed to find some time and since my better half has deserted me for a stag weekend in Marbella, what better time to write my tag post :) I have the place to myself with no interruptions whatsoever and MTV for company ... bliss!!!

K so the rules go like this:

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog
2. Answer the 11 questions the tagger has given you as well as answering the 11 questions you have set for the people you will tag to answer
3. Choose 11 people and link back to the tag
4. Go to their page and tell them
5. There can be no tag backs and all tags have to be legitimate.

11 Facts About Me

1. My star sign is Sagittarius
2. I've lived in London 2.5 years and have moved flat a total of 5 times.
3. I hold an NVQ 2  in Beautytherapy which i did when i was 26. You're never to0 old to learn! ;)
4. I love musical theatre and used to do amateur dramatics
5. I'm mixed race - Gambian, German and English
6. My favourite soap is Eastenders
7. I'm terrible at sticking to one thing, i get bored very quickly.
8. I'm not massively into fashion, i'm happy in my leggins and Uggs and long vest top, just as long as my makeup n hair looks good ;)
9. My favourite cocktail is a Caipirinha
10. I'm crap at maths, and had to re-take it when i did my GCSEs
11. I suffer with really bad migraines and have done since i was 14, so that's 15 years of them. Be great to meet other sufferers on here, you are not alone xxxxx

My Answer's to Amanda's questions

1.Do you have a nickname? Well my friends have always called me Hols or Hol. I have a few other random nicknames but they're between me and my besties ;)

2.Have you ever subscribed to a beauty box? If so, which one? Yes, i just subbed to GlossyBox, waiting for my first box to arrive, tres exciting!

3. Favourite YouTuber? XSparkage, i first found her 4 yrs ago when i started experimenting with makeup, she really inspired me to get to where i am today.

My questions to you!

1. What inspired you to start writing a blog? I used to do youtube tutorials but i found i didn't get much interaction with other viewers. I feel more comfortable writing then being in front of the video cam so writing a beauty blog seemed like the next step!

2.If you could work in cosmetics, which counter would you work on and why? Well i already worked on Aveda and Lancome when i was younger. I will probably return to cosmetics retail  part-time when i start a family, so my goal is to work either on the Mac counter or Bobbi Brown counter. Or Origins as i love their products soo much!

9. What beauty item can you not live without? My trusty bio oil and Carmex! I have such dry thirsty skin, i go mad if i can't moisturise!

11. Do you have a Youtube channel and if not, would you create one? I do, it's called XxMakeupbyHollyxX but i am going to launch another channel which will be an extension of my blog and might put my other channel to rest zzzzzz!

Calling all Organic Skincare and Haircare Lovers!

Evening my  gorgeous followers & bloggers!

So I've been meaning to write a post on natural hair and skin care for a while now and finally got round to taking a couple of pics of my latest purchase from the company known as Green People. I've always used Aveda up until now, as i was lucky enough to receive it on discount when i worked for the company but since i left, my Aveda stocks are now next to nothing and sadly i cant afford the price tag! So it was up to me to find a company that not only made natural products but were affordable and i came across this beauty of a website! I absolutely love their products and always come back to them whenever i have experimented with other brands. I have bought their Gentle Cleanse and Vita Min Fix moisturiser and also tried their face scrub and shower gel. What i love about this company is they are very generous with their samples which is great as you can then try before you buy without the worry of spending money on something that may not work for you. I love that all the products are formulated without all the nasty petro-chemicals and parabens and perfumes which means you can really enjoy using the products because they are so natural :) I can even rub the face cleanser into my eyes without any stinging sensation whatsoever which for me is the ultimate test!

So with all that in mind, I decided to try the conditioner and i wasn't disappointed! It has left my dry chemically treated hair silky soft  and more manageable with a gorgeous scent of beautiful essential oils such as Bergamot and Rose Geranium - mmmmm! The conditioner cost me £10.95 in total for 200ml which i would say is a mid-range price to pay. My only complaint is that they don't make it in a bigger size like Aveda do but hopefully in the future they will as they do some of their cleansers in jumbo sizes which lasts months!

Here is a bit more blurb from their website:

For coloured, chemically-treated & frequently blow-dried hair
  • A welcome treat for stressed out hair
  • Boosts shine and nourishes scalp and hair shaft
  • Prevents scalp dryness and loss of natural oils
  • For a deluxe conditioning treatment, wrap hair in towel and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing
This natural hair care product is made without SLS/SLES, Parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrances to bring you the purest conditioner that nature can offer.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians'

I almost forgot to tell you that at the moment the lovely Green People are giving away a free trial size product with every order. And it's not just a little sample, we are talking an actual travel size which is fab, just in time for those up and coming holidays away!

So if you are looking for natural skincare/haircare/bodycare, you need to check this company out. They even do makeup now too. I have posted the link below so you guys can read a bit more about them and what they do :)

Lotsa luv

Kardashian Sisters Inspired Look using Naked Palette 2

Hi Dolls!!

So I don't know about you guys but one of my guilty viewing pleasures has to be Keeping Up with the Kardashians :) Every girl has to have at least one trashy programme that they watch and this is definitely mine! I look at the girls and i think how beautiful they all are and how polished their hair and makeup looks ( ok i know they have stylists but so what..) they still look freaking damn good! I watch it and i think i want to look like them haha! So i decided i would have a go at doing a 'Kardashian Inspired Look' using my new Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. I noticed how they usually almost go for browns and neutral colours to compliment their dark brown eyes and lots of kohl pencil and mascara! I don't have brown eyes i have green so i cant pull it off quite the same as they can but i had a damn good try and this is what i came up with :)

Oh and i also took a photo of one of Revlon's new Lip Butters that everyone is going crazy about. This one is called 'Sweet Tart' and is a gorgeous corally colour! Perfect for summer, i cant wait to buy some of the other colours!

Sugarpill Burning Heart Tutorial

Hey all you pretty ladies! I finally got to have a go with my new Sugarpill Eyeshadows over the Easter Weekend which i was super excited to receive in the post last week! These eyeshadows are tricky to buy here in the UK and so far i've only managed to find them online which can be a bit annoying as sometimes you want to see the colours and swatch them before buying but hey ho, i kinda knew what these would come out like from all the You Tube Tutorials that i watched!

So in a nutshell, these shadows are extremely pigmented and all matt colours with the purple being slightly shimmery but still overly matt. I found it best to apply these in natural light as then you can get more of an idea as to the pay off you will get. I have to admit though, i'm not a huge fan of matt eye shadows as my skin is so dry and i always have trouble blending but these colours did blend really well. I also found that toward the end of the day my eyes looked more orange then anything and this was probably because i overcompensated on the orange shadow! I guess with these colours i do need a little practice! And less is definitely more esp with the red and orange shadows! I'm looking forward to using  the purple more as it's so vibrant and i absolutely love purple eyeshadows, they make my green eyes really pop !

Anyway, i posted some pictures for you all below.. let me know what you think, i don't have a great camera and had to use my phone, so getting just a single eye shot was near enough impossible. I would love to know what cameras you guys all use to get those amazing single eye shots!

I started off by priming my eyes with my NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. This is a great base to help keep eyeshadows in place and also make colours really pop. I then took my Mac 239 brush and packed on the yellow (Buttercup) into the inner corners of my eyes and the first third. Next i used the same brush and packed on the orange (Flamepoint) onto the 2nd third of my eye and gently blended the two colours together so the colours flowed into one another. Then i applied the red (Love +)  into the last third and blended the orange and red together. I next took a clean tapered blending brush and using a windscreen wiper motion, blended the harsh lines out in the crease area.

I then took a highlight colour and used my Mac 227 brush to highlight under my brows and blend into the lid colours. I used a Kiko Eyeshadow in a matt white colour for this.

Lastly, i lined just under my waterline with the purple ( Poison Plum) and used my Soap & Glory Smolder Kohl for my waterline and upper lash line. I finished off with some mascara and Ramblas Red Lipstick by Mac which is a matt red :) Look complete!
